About Me

My photo
Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Nancy. I decided to retire early and my last day at the Fire District was December 31, 2020. My dream to do this pigs 'n poultry thing full time started on January 1, 2021. So far so good...

Fort Vancouver Run 10k - DONE

There isn't a lot to say other than:

It was WET.
It was COLD.
It was MISERABLE.

BUT...We did it and I posted a decent time according to the actual distance of 6.4 instead of a 10k distance of 6.2 - final time 1:20:41 or 12:37 pace. That's a decent time for me in the crummy weather. After I had a chance to think about it I decided I was pretty happy with that result. It is the time that I will now gauge the rest of my races against!

Tom went all out to see how he would do and actually did quite well with a final time of 59:33 around 9:19 pace for him. Now - Tom's goal was to see if he could get top 3 in his age division. He would have been 3rd in his division IF there wasn't a morning of registration in his group WHO happened to finish first.

Oh well...there's always next year!

Needed to post a picture...not terribly flattering, but I made it over the timing strip!

Shamrock is coming up fast...but first I need a couple of days to rest - or at least one day. We'll see how I feel when I get up tomorrow morning.

Get out and run people!

Motivators

I believe in using races as motivators. It's hard to keep an exercise program if you don't have a significant goal in sight. Bob Greene, Fitness Instructor

This is definitely me. If I don't have something to work for I would probably not do anything or much of anything. It really is much easier to not do anything...sit around, watch TV, play on the computer etc.

With that, I have two events coming up. The first one is Moxie Runners - All Female Run.  This one was out of the blue! It happened to be a Groupon deal last week and I couldn't pass up a 1/2 price run! So this Sunday I'll be running a 5k which will be just around the corner and down the street from our house!

The second event is the Run Like Hell! Weeeee!!!! I gotta get my cape out...or make one - SUPER HEROES BABY! I'm REALLY looking forward to this one. I'm planning on the 10k again this year and I'm psyched! Should be fun!!! If Tom can run a 5k - which he should be able to by then, we'll be there together!

What motivates you?

2011 RLH

Run Like Hell is DONE! I did it!!! I ran my first 10K!!! Not TWO 5K's interrupted with a bike or rest, but one full 10K!!!

I have realized that it is MUCH easier to run a 10K than doing a Duathlon - although the duathlon is a fun challenge, but not as fun as triathlon...

anyway...

Tom and I ran together more than half way, then he pulled away and I continued to run a nice steady pace. I'm so psyched! The finish wasn't bad and I felt pretty good - I think I like this running stuff!!!

Since this was my first 10K I allowed myself and hour and a half to complete this seemingly monumental distance...my official time was 1:24...not bad right?

This week is rest week. No running, no riding, no swimming...just hoping to sleep in and be lazy. I like lazy! If I feel like getting into the jacuzzi at the gym I may get out of bed early to do that, but really, I just want to rest!

A little make up to complete the look?

Okay, so the make-up didn't survive the sweat!
Interesting sights at the after event party.
Pink Tutu anyone?
